iClicker 2 device.

 

This spring the Faculty Center has partnered with two Biology faculty members to pilot the iClicker interactive response system.  These devices are designed to increase student engagement in face-to-face classes by allowing instructors to occasionally poll students with subject matter questions during class sessions.  Students use the hand-held devices to select multiple choice, true/false, or alpha-numeric responses.  Another purpose of these interactions is help instructors to gauge student understanding of the subject matter, while allowing students to express

The pilot involves two different Biology classes.  Students in these two classes have access to checkout an iClicker 2 device from the Gee Library.  Students are using this device for the duration of the semester.

As part of the kick off, we held a training session for our professors in the pilot program as well as other iClicker users.  The half-day session covered how-tos from a technical as well as a pedagogical standpoint.

The FCTT will be working closely with the professors during the semester to provide technical support, as well as form best practices.
