Matterhorn 1.0 and 1.1

There has been a lot of speculation about the release date of version 1.1.  With the support for HD webcams, the 1.1 version of Matterhorn turns out to be the the perfect pick for the school like Texas A&M University-Commerce. Although the 1.0 and 1.1 has huge difference in interface and functionality, we figured out the basic operation was similar.

Here are the major updates coming out in the newest stable version of Matterhorn:

Administration
  • Bulk editing/deletion of scheduled recordings
  • Recording search/filtering
  • Improvements in REST API’s and addition of json, trimpath, jsonp
  • Skinnable UI
  • Adding/editing/deleting Series
  • Recording performance chart
  • Service and server performance overview
  • Initial media editing (endpoint trimming)
  • Improved performance when reviewing large recording sets
Engage Tools
  • Hotspots based on most watched sections of video
  • View recordings by series
  • Improved visual design
  • Pluggable architecture
  • Skinnable media player
Capture Appliance
  • Expanded hardware support
  • Ability to easily add non-supported hardware
Operational Improvements
  • If and unless conditions added to workflows
  • Initial Windows support for processing
  • Improved 3rd party installation scripts
  • Load balancing out of the box
  • Multiple distributed deployment strategies (ex. replication for horizontal scaling)
