Dr. Julia Ballenger of the Educational Leadership Department at Texas A&M University-Commerce received an Outstanding Distance Faculty Award from NETnet this summer. A regular fixture at the Office of Academic Technology, she was nominated by our Instructional Designer, Dr. Petra Strassberg.
Dr. Ballenger reflects a deep commitment to her students and working with colleagues to implement effective online teaching practices. We’re always pleased to work alongside such hard working faculty!

“Dr. Julia Ballenger is exceptionally proactive in acquiring the necessary skills to teach online courses. She has spent hours working in the Academic Technology lab to learn new technologies and master our new learning management system, D2L.
Dr. Ballenger is always smiling, professional, considerate, and helpful to everyone she encounters. She is a mentor to other women at the university.
Dr. Ballenger is a full professor in the department of Educational Leadership.”
