2015 Scholarship Symposium!

To provide faculty with support for teaching, scholarship, and engagement in service, the Center for Faculty Excellence and Innovation (CFEI) will be hosting a Scholarship Symposium this Spring 2015 semester.

On February 25, 2015, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the RSC Traditions, a Panel Discussion on the Publication Process will include Dr. Augustine Arize (COB), Dr. Salvatore Attardo (CHSSA), Dr. Venu Cheriyath (CoSE), and Dr. Jon Travis (COEHS) as the distinguished panel of published authors and/or editors.

On March 2, 2015, 11:00 – 12:30 p.m. and 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. at the RSC Traditions, Jeffrey Beall of University of Colorado Denver will present “Don’t Be Fooled: Recognizing & Avoiding Predatory Publishers”.

On March 13, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., multiple events will take place at the CFEI and RSC. The Resource Fair, including CFEI, Gee Library, Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, Training & Development, the Writing Center, EndNote, and iThenticate, will be located at the CFEI (AGIT 222). Three different workshops will take place at the CFEI Conference Room:

  • “Open Access: Unlocking Scholarly Communication” by Dr. Scott Lancaster, Gee Library, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
  • “Citing Sources for Academic and Scholarly Publication” by Diana Hines, the Writing Center, 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • “EndNote Basics for Developing & Managing a Literature Review” by Dr. Felicity Grandjean, CFEI, 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.

Additionally, two Writers’ Workshops will be offered to faculty to facilitate their scholarship activities. Anne Phifer will facilitate the sessions, help faculty identify writing goals for the workshops, and keep faculty focused.

  • 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Traditional classroom setting with refreshments at RSC Traditions
  • 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Lounge setting with ambient music and refreshments at RSC The Club
