Apple TV/iPad Tips

A few notes and tricks about our Air Play set up in Ed South 131:

First you’ll need wireless access.  Note that you need to be on the same wireless network as the Apple TV device in order to use Air Play with it.

Below are step-by-step instructions of how to Access the Apple TV network in Ed South 131:

1. On your iOS device, select “settings” and then select “Wi-Fi”
2. Under “choose a network” select “other” and type in manually:  APPLETV (all caps).  (Check “no security”)
3. After entering this information, a Safari browser page should open.  (If not, please manually launch Safari.)  You should see a page for authentication in the “captive portal” (use your student domain credentials, your CWID and password):

(It is important to use the AppleTV wireless network as the TAMUC wireless network will not allow AirPlay with the hardware.)

Now you should be able to utilize Air Play.  Here’s a great resource to refer to for Air Play purposes:

For security purposes, the Apple TV is currently setup to require a 4 digit code to use Air Play.
