We at the FCTT were very excited to demonstrate a SMART Podium for the Math Department and The College of Business and Entrepreneurship at A&M-Commerce. Dr. KaSai Un and Dr. Pamela Webster from the Math Department were already knowledgeable with the SMART Notebook software, so it came as no surprise that they adapted to the touch screen version with very little training. The Math Department already has the SMART technology installed in some of their classrooms and wanted to explore other types of SMART integrations.
We suggested that a SMART Podium would work well in their classrooms without having to update the computers and projectors that are already installed. A SMART podium installed in the classroom is much more portable and less-costly. We also think that the ability to use Camtasia to record lectures that are performed on the SMART podium will be an exciting combination for the future.
The College of Business and Entrepreneurship also looked at the SMART Podium technology. Dr. Dale Funderburk, Dr. Charlotte Larkin and Belinda Benson visited the FCTT and were so impressed with the product that the college is renovating three rooms to incorporate the SMART Podium technology. We think the transition will be smooth and exciting. Everyone had a lot of fun and the excitement is building!
