Learning Management System (LMS) is a software application for the administration, tracking and reporting of online courses. Existing LMS: Pearson LearningStudio or eCollege. LMS Finalists: D2L Brightspace, Blackboard Learn, Instructure Canvas. Open Source (Free) LMS: edX, Edmodo, Moodle, Schoology, Sakai. Basic Features of a LMS: Authoring and management of course content, Assessment and testing tools, Gradebook, Communication and Collaboration (multimedia, notifications, video conferencing, virtual office/classroom).
