The graduate degrees in art at Texas A&M University-Commerce instill in students an appreciation and understanding of the visual arts in a global context while also inspiring and preparing them to excel as practitioners of fine and applied arts, art history, and art education.
The general objectives of graduate study in art include:
(1) The refinement of technical skills in chosen specializations; (2) the development of a critical understanding of one’s own art in its cultural and conceptual context; and (3) the mastery of advanced skills of communication through visual, verbal, and oral media. These objectives are achieved through a close working relationship between students and faculty in which the candidate pursues a course of study designed especially for his or her educational or professional goals. Master’s degrees are offered in the areas of Visual Communication (Universities Center at Dallas) and Studio Art (Commerce Campus).
